Sculptor and ceramist
Nicole Lemieux has been working in sculpture for about thirty years. Training in ceramics during the 1970s was decisive for the choice of sculpture. A bachelor's degree in Visual Arts as well as a bachelor's degree in Art History , decade of the 1980s, have supported this orientation .. Terracotta with the addition of various materials such as steel, copper, the copper. wood, acrylic etc ... characterize the three-dimensional compositions. Ovoid shapes, hands, architecture, anthropomorphic elements were privileged. Ecology, "encapsulated" solitude, needy hands were the main themes studied. Currently artistic research is oriented towards genetic (the hampered genome ! .....)
Nine solo exhibitions, around forty exhibitions collective, have been a practice
active artistic. In 1990 and 1994, respectively, two ceramic sculptures were finalists in Canada with traveling exhibitions. In 2000, a one-meter sculpture was selected by the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts for an exhibition in Toronto and Stratford. At the same time, utilitarian and animal pieces are added to this artistic practice.
